Wildly Biased Show: Week #3

You can't win 'em all if you don't win the first one, folks! The Wild hung a big W on the Pepsi Center last night to open the season. After the game Phil & I sat down to record Episode #3 of the Wildly Biased podcast.

In this week's show we discuss the Wild's thrilling 5-4 win in Denver, Zach Parise's hat trick, Tyler Graovac's performance, Devan Dubnyk's struggles, Gabriel Landeskog's consistently immature play, the Avalanche withholding their doctor from Nino Niederreiter, Cody McLeod, Mikko Koivu's captaincy, Marco Scandella, the Wild's struggling PK, Matt Duchene, and the magic of Thomas Vanek.

We also take a trip around the league and discuss the league's cocaine problem, Houston Aeros Calder Cup wins, the strength of the Central Division, Dustin Brown's headbutt, the Sharks captaincy (again), the usefulness of Milan Lucic, the coach's challenge, a random Rangers/Caps playoff game from '09, Connor McDavid & Jack Eichel debut, and a look ahead at the week ahead.

As always, the show's free to stream.  Also, as always, be aware that we use some big-boy language on the show.

We'll be back next week to discuss the home opener against St. Louis, the Wild's trip to Glendale, and whatever else happens between now & then.

As always, feel free to drop us a line here on the blog or via e-mail (WildlyBiased@gmail.com). You can also hit us up on Twitter (Phil at @Phileeeeeeep and me at @WildlyBiased). We'd love to discuss the Wild, the NHL, or, really, whatever you feel like talking about. We try to keep it open around here.

Wildly Biased Show: Week #2

Well hello again, podcast fans!  Welcome to Week #2 of the Wildly Biased Show!

It's the last show of the preseason, everybody, and Phil & I are back to discuss all kinds of things. We get deep discussing the Wild's thrashing of the Sabres, their thrashing of the Jets, the standing of Tyler Graovac, Brett Bulmer, & Zac Dalpe, the potential impact of Chris Porter, the team-building jaunt to Duluth, and some of the Wild's X-Factors this season.

We also take a trip around the league and discuss the ramifications of Jordan Eberle's injury, the Brent Seabrook extension, and the intrigue surrounding the naming of the Sharks' new captain. We also talk about the University Of North Dakota's nickname dilemma, Saskatoon, Paul Maurice, Erik Haula, Charlie Coyle, 3-on-3 OT, and the magic of the 200 level.

The show's always free. Just click the Mixcloud player below.

Of course, be warned, the Wildly Biased Show contains some (OK, lots) of adult language.

We'll be back next week to discuss the opening of the regular season out in Denver among all the rest of the week's news.

Wildly Biased Show: Week #1

Well hello again, Wild fans. It's been a while.

As you may have noticed, I took last season off from the old blogosphere. Unfortunately I just couldn't find the time to make it happen. It was a hell of a season and I wish I could have done it, but it just wasn't meant to be.

However, this season Wildly Biased is back and bigger than ever!  As you can see, in addition to writing posts for the blog, I've wrangled my buddy Phil to co-host the Wildly Biased podcast with me.  We intend on recording a new show every Thursday & posting it every Friday (so far we're 0-for-1).

We hatched this idea last season, but the season was halfway done and figured we couldn't just jump in midstream. However, with the season upon us, we decided that now was the time to give it a shot. Obviously the show will skew heavily toward Minnesota Wild talk, but we'll also discuss the rest of the NHL and pretty much follow whatever tangent we stumble upon.

To wit: this week's episode includes an in-depth discussion of the Wild's training camp battles, the fourth line, the defense, the goalie situation, the Erik Johnson contract, John Tortorella's hiring as Team USA's coach, the relevance of preseason results, Jagr selfies, and plenty more. Give it a listen.

(Be warned: Contains adult language).

(And for the record, it's our first show and it's the preseason. We're working our way into game shape. Bear with us.)

We're definitely open to answering questions/responding to criticism/discussing random topics on the show. Send an e-mail to WildlyBiased@Gmail.com. I can be found on Twitter (@WildlyBiased) and so can Phil (@Phileeeeeeep).

Anyway, welcome back to the blog. It's going to be a fun season and we'll be here to document the whole damn thing.  Thanks for stopping by.
